New in Tiny Kube

More reasons to pick it up again

A clock and your best times, lessons that teach the 3x3, and a cube that changes every day.

A phone showing Tiny Kube’s Solved card: 1:14.04, 22 moves, a new best, and the daily cube done seven days in a row

Race the clock

Scramble, and the clock starts with your first turn. Every solve ends on its time, its moves and how it compares, with your best and your average of five kept on the phone.

Learn to solve in 7 steps

The 3x3 layer by layer, the way most people learn it. Each lesson sets up a cube with the steps before it already done, so you only practise the new one, with a hint whenever you are stuck.

A new cube every day

One 3x3 a day, the same scramble for everybody. Solve it to keep your streak going: hints are fine, the solver is not.

What Tiny Kube does

Small app, serious cube

Everything here is in the app today, on the phone, with no connection needed.

⏱️

A clock, and your best times

The clock starts with your first turn after a scramble and stops when the cube comes out. Your best time and your average of five are kept for every size, counting the solves you made without a hint or the solver.

🎓

Lessons that teach the 3x3

Seven short lessons take you from a mixed-up cube to a solved one: the bottom cross, the bottom corners, the middle layer, then the last layer in four steps. Each one explains the goal and the sequence it uses, and sets up a cube to practise just that step.

📅

A new cube every day

The daily cube is one 3x3, the same scramble on every phone, new at midnight. Solve it each day to build a streak, and see your best streak in Stats.

💡

A hint, not the answer

Hint shows just the next step and the moves for it, so you get unstuck without being handed the whole solve. Solve is still there when you want the full way back for the 2x2 or the 3x3.

💾

It picks up where you left off

The cube, its clock and your record stay on the phone, so closing the app loses nothing. Anything that would throw away a cube you are part way through asks first.

👆

Turns that follow your finger

Put a finger on the cube and the layer moves with it, part way and back again if you like, then settles onto the nearest quarter turn when you let go. Land on the line between two layers and both turn together, which is how you get wide turns and how you hit a layer on a 7x7 without aiming at a few millimetres.

✈️

A cube that goes everywhere

Everything runs on the phone, so it plays the same on a plane, in a tunnel or anywhere without signal. A minute in a queue or an hour on a train: scramble it and solve it yourself, with nothing to sign in to first.

🎨

Copy the cube on your desk

Colours, under More, lets you paint in the cube you are actually holding, square by square. It checks the cube could exist, so a mis-tapped sticker gets caught rather than producing nonsense, and then you can play it here or ask for the way back.

✍️

Moves in plain notation

Under More, tap any turn, or type a sequence like F R2 U’ and watch it run. Useful for working through an algorithm you are learning, and for checking one you half remember.

🖼️

Patterns worth making

Checkerboard, cube in a cube, six spots, superflip, anaconda, python, tetris. Each one starts from a solved cube and shows the moves that make it, so you can learn the sequence rather than just watch it.

🫳

It shows you the fingers first

A first run asks for each movement in turn and waits until you have done it, so you learn to turn a layer, look around and zoom before anyone expects you to solve anything. The i at the top keeps the list, and will run it again.

👁️

Everything out of the way

The eye clears the screen down to the cube and the room. Turning and looking around carry on as normal, and the eye waits in the corner to bring the rest back.

How it works

Scramble, race, solve

  1. 01Scramble it, or take the daily cube2x2 through 7x7, the 4x4 and up with Pro. Scramble mixes it properly, and the cube keeps turning while it does. The clock starts with your first turn.
  2. 02Solve it yourselfOne finger turns a layer, one finger off the cube looks around it, two fingers move the camera. Double tap the background to take back the last turn. New to it? Learn teaches the 3x3 in seven steps.
  3. 03Stuck? Get a hintHint shows the next step and its moves. Solve lays out the whole way back in named steps, to play through or copy turn by turn on the cube in your hand.

Questions

The things people ask before downloading

Yes. Learn teaches the 3x3 in seven short lessons, layer by layer: the bottom cross, the bottom corners, the middle layer, then the last layer in four steps. Each lesson explains the goal and the sequence it uses, and sets up a cube with the earlier steps already done, so you practise only the new one. Hint shows the moves whenever you are stuck.
