Tiny Chess Master privacy policy
Last updated 4 November 2026
Tiny Chess Master does not collect personal data that identifies you. There is no account and no advertising inside the app, and your games never leave the phone.
What the app stores
Your games, your puzzle rating, how far you have got in each lesson, your settings, and the first name you give the Chess Master if you choose to, kept in a file on the phone itself. Nothing of it is uploaded, the name included, and deleting the app deletes it.
What the app does not do
- No sign-up, no login, no email address.
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking across other apps or websites, and no profile of you.
- No location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone access.
- No online play, so nothing about your games leaves the phone.
- Nothing sold, and nothing shared for advertising or for anybody else's own use.
The connections it makes
When the phone is online, Tiny Chess Master checks whether a newer version of the app has been published, using Expo's update service. That check sends technical details only: the app version, the platform, and a random installation identifier generated by the update library. It carries nothing about you and nothing about your games. With no connection, the app plays exactly as it does with one.
Anonymous usage counts
To see which parts of the app people use and where they get stuck, the app sends anonymous counts to Aptabase, a privacy-first analytics service: things like a lesson started or finished, a game against a bot won or lost, a puzzle solved, or the Pro screen opened, with the app version and the phone's operating system. There is no device identifier, no account and nothing about you, and Aptabase does not keep IP addresses. Aptabase handles the counts under its own privacy policy. You can turn them off at any time in the app's Settings, under Share usage counts.
The Pro subscription
Tiny Chess Master is free to start, and Pro, an optional subscription, unlocks the rest. If you subscribe, the purchase is made and paid for through the App Store or Google Play. Your payment details stay with Apple or Google; we never see them.
To know whether Pro is active on your phone, and to restore it on a new one, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription service. RevenueCat receives the purchase history of the subscription (which plan, when it was bought, renewed or cancelled, the store's receipt, the country and currency of the price) together with a random identifier the app makes for it. That identifier is not linked to your name, email address or Apple or Google account, and it is not used for advertising or tracking. Nothing about your games goes with it. RevenueCat handles it under its own privacy policy. If you never subscribe, RevenueCat sees only that random identifier asking which plans are on offer, with no purchases attached.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects nothing that identifies anybody, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the previous versions stay in the published history of this site.
